Free Coffee Friday

Starbucks needs to learn a few things about how the internet works. Apparently they sent out a coupon to some of their employees for a free iced coffee (snopes.com outlines the story here), and instructed them to forward that email to their friends/family. Then, upset that the coupon was being redeemed by too many people in too wide of an area, Starbucks decided to quit honoring them.

Earth to Starbucks: You told them to forward the email. What's your problem? Did you really have no clue how the internet works?

In a move that is pure marketing genius, Caribou Coffee has decided to accept the Starbucks coupons this Friday, September 8, any time from noon until closing. They will honor either the
Starbucks coupon or a printed copy of the email that Caribou sent out. Caribou will give you a free medium cold press iced coffee, iced americano, or iced tea.

In their email, Caribou adds:

Finally, feel free to forward this on to your “green” friends. We’re happy to honor their coupons and welcome them to Caribou.

Check here for a Caribou location near you.

Cleaning went GREAT! I mean, cleaning really sucketh but the house was satisfactory by the time all my local blogger friends showed up. We had a great time... everyone just left when the kids started getting cranky! Thanks for asking, girl! :) Hope your weekend is going well!

I miss Caribou. There was one within walking distance when I lived in WSP. Somehow I don't think the name would catch on down here.

Heather, there are Caribou Coffee locations in North Carolina and Georgia already. You never know, they may spread throughout the Southeast. :-)

Moncks Corner needs a coffee/cafe/bookish kind of place.

Will it happen? Who knows. Do I have the capital to try. No ma'am.

Heather, maybe not, but an email to Caribou asking when they're opening in Moncks Corner couldn't hurt. Or any other chain, for that matter. Or the owners of McKay's used bookstores in Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN. :-)
